Morning Stiffness
Morning stiffness is tightness in the muscles and joints throughout the body commonly felt when first waking up in the morning. This stiffness usually can last for as little as 30 minutes or as long as a couple hours or more. In some instances it can continue into the afternoon and even well into the evening. Morning stiffness can impede movement and range of motion and in persons with fibromyalgia cause aches and pains throughout the body.
Most fibromyalgia sufferers will experience morning stiffness during their illness. At vast majority of people with fibromyalgia deal with morning stiffness on a regular basis. Almost half of these people experience chronic morning soreness and stiffness that lasts for hours, day after day. This morning stiffness can have a huge impact on a person's daily activities, making it difficult to sit, stand, or rest for extended periods of time.
