Back Pain Chiropractic

Whiplash Treatment

Whiplash is different in each and every patient. Whether there is pain in the neck, numbness in extremities, upper back pain, and muscle strains, to name only a few symptoms, not to mention the severity of the whiplash. Because an individual case of whiplash can be so different from the next, our Physical Rehab Specialists will not be general in the way they approach the diagnosis or treatment of your case. The appropriate chiropractic treatment will be unique to your needs and as directed by your chiropractic diagnostic exam.

Chiropractic Adjustment for Whiplash

For cervical joint pain whiplash, spinal manipulation could be included in your treatment. This involves our Chiropractor moving the involved joint into the appropriate position. This is also known as a chiropractic adjustment.

Manual Massage Therapy for Whiplash

For muscle strains caused by whiplash, your treatment could consist of manually massaging the muscle that has excessive tension or repeated contractions. If needed, for extremely tight muscles, a more vigorous deep tissue massage may help stretch the muscle and will be applied by the Chiropractor. Manual Massage pressure techniques may be applied to trigger points to relieve the pain associated with the tight muscles.

McKenzie Exercise Treatment for Whiplash

McKenzie exercises are specifically designed to reduce disc derangement related to a whiplash injury. They consist of simple movements that are initially done in the office but make for an easy transition to self-care at home. McKenzie exercises also help the patient take an active role in his or her own recovery.

Stabilization and sensorimotor exercise approaches are designed to correct faulty movement patterns in routine activities and everyday life. Such whiplash treatment trains the nervous system to better coordinate and control movement patterns, and improves the ability of the neck muscles to maintain stability of the neck.

These exercises are designed to help in a major trauma, such as a fall or whiplash during a motor vehicle accident, or in "micro trauma" from simple things such as being jostled in a crowd, playing sports or performing occupational or home jobs that require physical effort.
