Football and Shoulder Injuries

Kare Clinic Chiropractic is an outstanding chiropractic clinic that helps treat shoulder injuries and to also strengthens the shoulder so that injuries are less likely to occur. Shoulder injuries also commonly occur in football and are caused by movements such as catching a football, straining to reach the goal with the ball grasped in your hand, or stretching your arms while flat on the ground.

There are two common types of shoulder injuries sustained in football:

  • Shoulder dislocation: This happens when the head of the humerus completely pops out of the socket. The first few times this happens, it is usually with significant trauma (although some people can have these without any injury at all). After that, it can get easier and easier for the joint to dislocate. Most shoulder dislocations are anterior. This means that the ball pops out the front of the socket.
  • AC separation: An AC separation is also known as a “separated shoulder”. This is a tear of the ligaments between the clavicle and acromion bone, which causes the clavicle (collar bone) to stick up. Most of these are treated without surgery, although rehabilitation is often required before returning to play.

Our chiropractors at Kare Clinic can reduce swelling and discomfort in your shoulder through a variety of chiropractic techniques. Visit Kare Clinic to schedule an appointment at our Grand Prairie or Fort Worth office to treat your shoulder pain and discomfort.
